Produced for CDP in London. This film was designed and painted by David and animated by Roger Mainwood.

The brief was to create an ad using the paintings of Paul Gauguin as the visual inspiration. At first we thought of animating a very controlled painting style, but the Agency wanted something fresher and a little different. In the end, David decided to go against the grain and allow the images to "Boil" giving a more immediate and spontaneous feel to the ad.

The technique of "Living Paint" was accomplished using multi hand painted layers over the base animation to give the feeling that every frame was a separate painting.

This film had a remarkable short production time and had to be completed within six weeks from start to finish. This meant working 24 hour shifts, no sleep at all in the final week, but we delivered an award winning film on time!
