oscillococcinum "homeopathic"

Produced for France, this film was commissioned in the style of the illustrator Alison Jay. Alison was chosen from four initial designers for the project as her style was thought to be charming and original, whilst not looking cartoonish.

The Animator and Director worked with Alison to produce Key Frames that set the overall design of the film. This design called for a "rendered" technique. Rendering is a term used for hand colouring, with light and tone, the production cels. Traditional animation uses a "Trace and Paint" technique for the colouring which would not have given the required look in this case.

Once all the animation had been completed, the animators drawings were passed to the rendering department. Key Renderer, Tracey Stack, then interpreted Alisons designs onto acetate cel. On completion of the rendering the cels were scanned, ready to be combined in Flame with the background images.
